BYD’s fourth battery generation – Battery-Box HVM+ 13.8
Anyone investing in a home battery today wants not just capacity but convenience too: easy expansion, remote maintenance and no compatibility worries. The Battery-Box HVM+ 13.8 takes BYD’s proven high-voltage technology into its fourth generation – with 13.8 kWh of usable capacity, a new control unit and smart app monitoring. Plenty of reserve for high evening and night-time consumption.
Hassle-free expansion: automatic SOC balancing
With conventional batteries, the state of charge of new modules has to be laboriously matched. The HVM+ series does this automatically – additional modules are simply stacked into the tower and are ready for use straight away. Up to three towers can be connected in parallel for a maximum total capacity of 66.24 kWh.
One-click set-up and remote maintenance
The new BCU with flexible wiring makes commissioning child’s play thanks to one-click configuration in the BYD Energy App. Remote diagnostics and over-the-air updates keep the system up to date without a technician having to call out.
Cobalt-free LFP cells, proven millions of times over
BYD manufactures its own lithium iron phosphate cells and can draw on more than 20 years of LFP experience and over one million installed systems. The maximum output current of 50 A (peak 80 A for 15 s) handles even demanding load profiles, and efficiency is over 96%.
Built for indoors and outdoors
With its IP55 rating and an operating range of -10 °C to +50 °C, the tower (1467 × 610 × 282 mm, 221.1 kg) is suitable for basements, garages and sheltered outdoor locations.
FAQs about the Battery-Box HVM+ 13.8
Can the battery be combined with the previous series?
No – the HVM+ modules work exclusively with the new HV-BCU and cannot be mixed with modules from the previous generation.
Which app do I need?
Commissioning and monitoring are carried out via the new BYD Energy App (firmware V1.28.0 or later); the required Smart Wi-Fi/LAN module is included in the BCU package.
Can I expand it later?
Yes – with additional modules or up to three towers in parallel, at any time and without manual SOC balancing.
